Covers: Signing in, the Hub home page, the header on every page, learner profiles and their access settings, playlists, and analytics reports.

Not covered: The products opened from the Hub (Games & Activities, Sensory Space, Inclusive Stories, ChooseIt Readymades and ChooseIt Maker) and the activities they play. Each has its own report.

Evaluation Methods Used

Automated checks with axe-core on every page state a user reaches in the journeys tested, in Chrome. A keyboard-only walk-through of each journey. Claude drafted a verdict and remarks for each criterion from that evidence, and a person reviewed and confirmed or overrode every one. Criteria that need assistive technology were checked with the NVDA 2026.2 screen reader in Chrome, which read each page state it reached in the journeys tested and recorded what it announced, and a person reviewed what it read.

Tested on 6 November 2026 against the live service: 9 user journeys, reaching 26 distinct page states.

Terms

The terms used in the Conformance Level information are defined as follows:

Term

Definition

Supports

The functionality of the product has at least one method that meets the criterion without known defects or meets with equivalent facilitation.

Partially Supports

Some functionality of the product does not meet the criterion.

Does Not Support

The majority of product functionality does not meet the criterion.

Not Applicable

The criterion is not relevant to the product.

Not Evaluated

The product has not been evaluated against the criterion.

WCAG 2.x Report

Each criterion is marked with the WCAG versions it belongs to. Criteria marked “2.2 only” are not part of WCAG 2.1, and the one marked “2.0 and 2.1 only” was removed in WCAG 2.2, so this report can be read against either version.

Table 1: Success Criteria, Level A

Criteria

Conformance Level

Remarks and Explanations

1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A)

Supports

Images in the Hub have text alternatives, or are hidden from screen readers where the text beside them says the same. Each chart in an analytics report has its data in a table for screen readers.

1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded) (Level A)

Not Applicable

The Hub itself has no prerecorded audio-only or video-only content. Activities are covered by each product's report.

1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) (Level A)

Not Applicable

The Hub itself has no prerecorded video with audio.

1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded) (Level A)

Not Applicable

The Hub itself has no prerecorded video.

1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A)

Supports

Headings, lists, form fields, tick boxes, tabs and tables are marked up so assistive technology can read their structure, including the activities in a playlist, the list of sessions in analytics reports, and the data behind each chart.

1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence (Level A)

Supports

With a screen reader, content is read in the same order it appears on screen, and menus and windows are read straight after the control that opens them.

1.3.3 Sensory Characteristics (Level A)

Supports

Instructions do not rely on shape, size, position or sound alone.

1.4.1 Use of Color (Level A)

Supports

Colour is not the only way information is shown.

1.4.2 Audio Control (Level A)

Not Applicable

The Hub does not play audio automatically.

2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A)

Supports

Everything in the Hub can be used with a keyboard, including the header, the profile menu, playlists, analytics reports, the profile window and Manage Groups.

2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap (Level A)

Supports

Keyboard focus is never trapped.

2.1.4 Character Key Shortcuts (Level A 2.1 and 2.2)

Not Applicable

The Hub has no single-key keyboard shortcuts.

2.2.1 Timing Adjustable (Level A)

Supports

The Hub has no time limits. The sign-in page no longer times out.

2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide (Level A)

Supports

The Hub has no moving, blinking or auto-updating content.

2.3.1 Three Flashes or Below Threshold (Level A)

Supports

Nothing in the Hub flashes.

2.4.1 Bypass Blocks (Level A)

Supports

Every Hub page starts with a "Skip to main content" link that moves past the header to the main content, which is marked as the main landmark.

2.4.2 Page Titled (Level A)

Supports

Every page has a title that names it.

2.4.3 Focus Order (Level A)

Supports

Focus moves in a logical order. When a window opens, focus moves into it and stays there until it is closed. When a window moves to another page, such as opening a report, focus moves to the new page's heading.

2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A)

Supports

Links make sense from their text and the card or row they are in.

2.5.1 Pointer Gestures (Level A 2.1 and 2.2)

Supports

No function needs a multipoint or path-based gesture.

2.5.2 Pointer Cancellation (Level A 2.1 and 2.2)

Supports

Actions happen when the pointer is released, not when pressed.

2.5.3 Label in Name (Level A 2.1 and 2.2)

Supports

Controls with a visible label include that label in their name.

2.5.4 Motion Actuation (Level A 2.1 and 2.2)

Not Applicable

The Hub has no functions operated by moving the device.

3.1.1 Language of Page (Level A)

Supports

Each page declares its language.

3.2.1 On Focus (Level A)

Supports

Moving focus to a control does not change the page.

3.2.2 On Input (Level A)

Supports

Changing a setting does not change the page unexpectedly.

3.2.6 Consistent Help (Level A 2.2 only)

Supports

The tips button is in the same place in the header on every page. The sign-in page links to product support.

3.3.1 Error Identification (Level A)

Supports

Input errors are identified and described in text.

3.3.2 Labels or Instructions (Level A)

Supports

Fields are labelled or made clear by their context. The profile, sign-in and settings fields have labels. A new or renamed group or playlist is named in a field that appears in place in its list, after Create Group or Create Playlist, filled in with its current name. The profile search box is marked by a search icon and "Search profiles..." text.

3.3.7 Redundant Entry (Level A 2.2 only)

Supports

Information already entered is not asked for again.

4.1.1 Parsing (Level A 2.0 and 2.1 only)

Supports

For WCAG 2.0 and 2.1, this criterion is treated as always satisfied for HTML, following the WCAG 2.1 errata.

4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A)

Supports

Controls expose their name, role and state to assistive technology, including the header buttons, menus, on/off switches, tick boxes, tabs and the access method choices.

Table 2: Success Criteria, Level AA

Criteria

Conformance Level

Remarks and Explanations

1.2.4 Captions (Live) (Level AA)

Not Applicable

The Hub has no live audio or video.

1.2.5 Audio Description (Prerecorded) (Level AA)

Not Applicable

The Hub itself has no prerecorded video.

1.3.4 Orientation (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Supports

The Hub works in both portrait and landscape orientation.

1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Does Not Support

The sign-in form's username and password fields do not identify their purpose in code, so browsers and assistive tools cannot reliably recognise and fill them.

1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA)

Partially Supports

Most text meets the minimum contrast ratio. Some does not: the Play buttons on the Hub home, the Use Subscription and Sign In buttons on the sign-in page, the Delete Profile button, and some grey hint text and labels in the playlist and profile windows and in analytics reports.

1.4.4 Resize Text (Level AA)

Partially Supports

Text can be resized to 200% with browser zoom, but at that size the analytics tables and reports cut most of their text short, and some window titles and labels, such as the profile name and Create Playlist, are cut short rather than wrapping.

1.4.5 Images of Text (Level AA)

Supports

Text is real text. The only images containing text are the HelpKidzLearn logo and the product illustrations, where the text is part of the picture.

1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Partially Supports

The product cards on the Hub home reflow to a single column on narrow screens, but the header does not, so the page scrolls sideways. The profile and playlist windows also need scrolling in two directions on narrow screens.

1.4.11 Non-text Contrast (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Partially Supports

Most controls have enough contrast. The off state of on/off switches and the borders of unticked tick boxes, unselected options and text fields are too faint.

1.4.12 Text Spacing (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Partially Supports

Most text adapts to increased spacing. Some table headings, such as the playlist table's Product column, are cut off.

1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Supports

No additional content appears when the pointer hovers over or keyboard focus moves to a control, apart from the browser's own tooltips on shortened table text.

2.4.5 Multiple Ways (Level AA)

Supports

Products can be reached from the Hub home and from the products menu in the header.

2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA)

Supports

Headings and labels describe their purpose.

2.4.7 Focus Visible (Level AA)

Partially Supports

Most elements that can receive keyboard focus show a visible focus indicator. The Username and Password fields on the sign-in page do not.

2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only)

Partially Supports

When a window is open, keyboard focus can move to items hidden behind it.

2.5.7 Dragging Movements (Level AA 2.2 only)

Partially Supports

Playlist activities can be reordered by dragging, or with the keyboard, but not by tapping or clicking without dragging.

2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only)

Supports

Targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels or have enough space around them.

3.1.2 Language of Parts (Level AA)

Supports

The Hub's content is all in one language.

3.2.3 Consistent Navigation (Level AA)

Supports

The same header appears in the same place on every page.

3.2.4 Consistent Identification (Level AA)

Supports

Controls with the same function are labelled the same way.

3.3.3 Error Suggestion (Level AA)

Supports

Error messages say how to fix the problem.

3.3.4 Error Prevention (Legal, Financial, Data) (Level AA)

Partially Supports

Deleting a profile asks for confirmation. Deleting a group happens immediately, with no confirmation or undo.

3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only)

Supports

Signing in needs only a username and password, and password managers and pasting can be used.

4.1.3 Status Messages (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2)

Partially Supports

Screen readers announce the confirmations shown when a profile is created or its settings are saved. The confirmation shown when a profile is selected is not announced.
