How to use these boards.
Make communication feel safe, predictable, and fun. • Model first: Point to the cell and say the word. Keep it natural. • Pause and wait: Give time for a look, sound, movement, or press. • Acknowledge every attempt: “I heard that.” “I saw you look at music.” • Offer choice: Start with two options. Add more as confidence grows. • Keep language simple: One or two words. Repeat often. • Use any access method: Touch, switch, eye gaze, or mouse. Partner-assisted is fine.
