Big Bang Patterns
An excerpt from the Inclusive Technology CD Big Bang Patterns. In this simple “cause and effect” activity, you just press the space bar, click the mouse or touch your touch-monitor to get a 20 second animation with music. This sampler has 6 patterns in different styles. Watch to see if your child shows a preference for subject, colour or musical style. You can skip animations using the left and right arrow keys.
“Cause and effect” means to make an action, such as pressing the space, to get a reaction from the computer, such as music and animation. (It can also mean your baby throwing his toys out of his pram to get your attention!)
Switch Use: Set your interface box so your switch acts like the space bar. Alternatively you can use two switches that act like the space bar and the Enter key. (See the parents section for more information about switch use.)
